Learn Something New

Hopefully as an entrepreneur or as a team launching a venture your curiosity is at a high level. Curiosity helps make your venture an adventure, so keep it going. If finding something to learn is puzzling you, perhaps the list below will present a solution to you.

Some options:

  • WealthLift - Cost: Free - This is a great place to learn about investing. You choose companies that will out perform or under perform other companies within the market. There are courses that teach different aspects of investing as well as pair it with a forum that has some great discussion and exchange of ideas. I personally use this service and find it to be interesting and thought provoking.
  • Duolingo - Cost: Free - This is the best place in my opinion to learn another language. They offer quite a few to learn, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and English. You learn by typing in English and the other language you are learning. You can use your microphone to speak the words in the language you are learning and also translate real sentences pulled from the internet in the language you are learning.
  • Coursera - Cost: Standard - $0 / Signature Track - $Varies based on Course - There are plenty of interesting college level classes offered by different colleges and universities. You are not earning actual college credit, however, you are still engaged in real learning and lots of thought provoking topics.
  • Udacity - Cost: Standard - $0 / For-Credit - $Varies based on Course - I have never used this website, but based on conversations with friends this service is similar to Coursera.
  • Skill Share - Cost: $Varies based on Course (Range from $0 to about $29 based on a quick review) - Learn how to create a real project while taking the class at your own pace. Class topics seem to range from, Technology, Writing, Entrepreneurship, Design and many more. I have yet to try this service but it looks very promising.
  • Codecademy - Cost: Free - This may be one of the best places to learn a web development coding language. I have personally found this to be a great resource for increasing my coding knowledge. There are many different languages you can learn, HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, Python, Ruby, PHP as well as APIs.
  • Ready for Zero - Cost: Standard - Free - or - Plus - $4.99 - This is a great resource for learning how to eliminate any debt you have. It helps you focus on eliminating the most problematic debts based on amounts and percentages. I have not used this service but have heard good things about it.
